Anton Pann Memorial House |

Monument of town architecture, built at the middle of the 18 th century with a porch and a cellar, this museum-house present a memorial exhibition “Anton Pann”, which marks the stay in the Valcea County between 1826-1828, 1836-1840 of the man who has remained in the memory of the generations to come, as “”Pepelea's son, as witty as a proverb”, and who was a music teacher at the school set up the Ramnic Bishopric, as the writer whose works were inspired by the spiritual life of Rm.Valcea town. |

After the victory of the revolution in the Wallachia ( The Roumanian Country) on the 29 th of July 1848, Anton Pann participates together with the town officials at the great ceremony in the Zavoi Park, organized on the occasion of the sanctification of the banners of the national liberty according to the new Constitution, and the interpretation of the revolutionary march “Wake up Romanian”, on the Andrei Muresanu' s lines.The music of the march has been written by Anton Pann after a song “From my Mother's Breast”. It was for the first time when the future anthem of Romania had been interpreted at a public reunion in the Zavoi Park in Rm.Valcea.

The memorial house removed 37 meters from as original setting, has been re-arranged. It illustrates the inside of a modest living room in a provincial town in the middle of the 19 th century with pieces of furniture ( a divan/sofa, a bookcase, a table, chairs), decorative items made of tin brass, argentan, as well as paintings representing a series of personalities of the epoch mother Meletina, from “Dintr-un Lemn” monastery and Ion Popovici the printer, all being connected with the life and work of the writer.
The second room of the house presents an interior with painted furniture, typical to Transylvania , as a link Anton Pann had with that part of the country.
The last room presents the musical works, his folklore collections, his poems and stories (The New Erotocrit”, Sibiu 1837, “Fables and Stories”, Bucharest 1841, “The Story of the Word”, Bucharest 1847, “Nastratin Hogea”, Bucharest 1853, etc.)
All these works highlight Anton Pann's printing and literary activity. |
